Client background

A US multi-brand retailer in tools and automotive had strong product depth and a functional Shopify store that was not built for scale, discoverability or a seamless customer experience.

Managing multiple brands under one ecosystem needs centralised control with flexible execution, and that structure was missing.

Problem

Operational challenges

Product data was disorganised across a large SKU base with inconsistent taxonomy and category mapping, and vendor data arriving in multiple formats caused mismatches.

Frequent inventory updates required manual effort, conversion suffered from missing trust signals and UX elements, and there was no unified structure for global shipping and checkout.

Manual at the wrong scale

Inventory and catalogue updates were being handled manually on a six-figure SKU base.

Inconsistent taxonomy

Category mapping varied by brand, making filtering and discovery unreliable.

Shipping logic gaps

No structured approach to international rates meant unpredictable checkout costs.

Solution

Custom solution executed

  1. 01

Large-scale data management and bulk operations

Over 100K SKUs required structured bulk listing workflows rather than manual uploads. Product attributes, variants and taxonomy were standardised, bulk updates automated through catalogue tooling, and data accuracy enforced across all listings.

  2. 02

    Catalogue structure and navigation

The category hierarchy and collection structure were rebuilt, intelligent tagging logic applied for filtering and search, and internal navigation improved for faster product access — reducing friction in browsing rather than adding features.

  3. 03

    Conversion-focused enhancements

Buy Now functionality was added to simplify the checkout flow, and product pages optimised with structured content and clear value propositions.

  4. 04

    Global shipping and checkout

Country-wise shipping rates were implemented with rules structured by region and order value, giving international buyers transparent pricing at checkout.

  5. 05

    SEO and product page optimisation

Product titles and descriptions were rewritten against keyword mapping, meta data and on-page elements optimised, and product information clarified — which also reduces returns.

  6. 06

    Multi-channel readiness

The store was prepared for marketplace integration with inventory sync readiness across channels, and backend systems built to support omnichannel operations.

Impact

Business value delivered

  • Bulk listing automation replacing manual uploads
  • Rebuilt catalogue hierarchy and tagging for discovery
  • Structured international shipping with transparent checkout pricing
  • SEO-optimised product pages across the range

What it changed for the client

  • A move from manual management to a system-driven operation
  • Faster, more reliable catalogue operations
  • An architecture that supports future brand and channel expansion

In short

Running a multi-brand store at this scale is an architecture problem rather than a listing problem. Standardising the data, rebuilding the structure and automating the bulk work produced a store that can absorb growth instead of being slowed by it.
